Logo Designing – What Lies Beneath

Written by admin on Thursday, December 31st, 2009 in Uncategorized.

One of the most important aspects of running a business is projecting the right corporate image through which the world is going to know you. This image would be a manifestation of your business idea, a graphical representation of your corporate message. And most people would agree when I say that a company logo is the first and the biggest impression that one can create in the market. So this is where you need to pause for a while, ideate on your concepts and come up with something really good to make a resounding impact. It’s best however, to hire a professional graphic design agency that can offer the best solution for your logo designing requirement. With the kind of experience and talent pool that a professional firm would have, the result would be far better than what you could have achieved through in-house designers.

But coming to the main point anyways, logo designing , as I had said, is a graphical representation of your business message. This is where you need to be conceptually very strong to be unique and stand out. Meet with the designers and break down your business idea as clearly as possible to help them in their task. Make sure that the design firm that you hire has the latest tools and technologies at its disposal besides an able-bodied team of skilled designers who follow the market trends to remain updated. Take care that the logo design created by the designers does not have any traces from some other company’s logo. Try to help them as much as possible by showing your flagship products or explaining about your services. That should be the cue for them to start on something.

Remember that your logo corporate identity is a way of launching yourself in the market and it should therefore be acceptable. That’s because it is the very first thing that anyone would notice before bothering to know more about you. The logo shouldn’t be anything fancy, but shouldn’t be a dull piece of art either. Make the design as creative as possible and ask your designers to use only the best tools in the design industry today.

This is very good but you have to remember that if you are losing them then it is harmful for you. Here are few good tips to help you keep your members happy, so they would never fill as if they are not a part of your membership site.

You should offer great Value:
This goes without explaining that members will leave if they are not getting new and exciting information and you need to provide this regularly to them.

Do not forget to hold regular surveys:
You should not just guess that what your customers are thinking. In general they all will tell you that what they think about your membership website, you should ask to people to give their valuable opinion; and even if you send them an email with a couple of questions, you will definitely get responses.

You need to stay one step ahead of your Customers:
You should look for the trends in your niche and address them when they are burning hot. Some markets changes so quickly that it is hard to keep a pace with them, you will have to do research on time to time to ensure that you know what your customers will want before they do.

Hold a contest:
It is advisable that you show your customers that you love to give things away for free. Give them a good reason to come back to the website, and check to see who the winner was. Schedule a draw date for a few days after the membership renewal date so members wouldn’t even think of dropping out.

Keep in time to time communication:
Few people need more emails from you than others, and they will appreciate your communication. Few of them don’t like the constant flow of emails, for you it will be a bit of a juggling act to try to get your emails going out at an appropriate rate.

Maintaining your members is a key to success as it will make your website grow just by word of mouth. Few of your members may belong to forums in the niche and recommend your website to many people. They may have friends that they send to your website.

A membership website can be the biggest payoff on the Internet; if you treat your member in a right way and listen to the essential things they have to say.

Web Designing and W3C Standards

Written by admin on Thursday, December 31st, 2009 in Uncategorized.

Majority of web developers and designers ignore the W3C standards while working on a website template design. It is a common practice to run a website on several different browsers to ensure the inter-operability of it. Many developers and designers are of the view that by following the standards for operation and design lay down by W3C; they are unable to design exhilarating websites and have to work in a limited environment. Several think that their creativity will be at stake if W3C standards are followed. Also, many consider these standards to increase their budget while others just don’t care and do as they please.

All these theories and assumptions are false. W3C standards not only help developers and designers to create exciting and thrilling template designs, they also help in its increased accessibility and decreased cost. If W3C standards are not met, the site is vulnerable and there is no guarantee whether the website will be accessible in the future or not. Inter-operable techniques like XHTML, SVG and CSS aid in designing creative websites.

Other important benefits of following W3C standards include reduced page weight and faster loading of the site, convenient handling and maintenance of the site, debugging of errors from the code and quality improvement of the site. Plus, it is also a symbol of professionalism. Nowadays, where everyone is becoming a developer or designer without the complete knowledge or skill required for this field, W3C standards assist in discriminating between the professionals and these non-professionals.

Last but not least, a Flash Template or a simple HTML template built on W3C standards is easily accessible to search engines. Designing a website according to W3C standards is the foremost and most vital step in the search engine optimization of that particular website which increases its accessibility and helps in reaching potential audiences.

The end result of all this discussion is that W3C standards are beneficiary in every way. They save developers and designers from a lot of hassle, prevent the website from being outdated and reduce the need to redesign it. Although it may sometimes be frustrating to work by the rules but the after effects are worth the trouble.

Follow these Tips to Select Professional Logo Design Company

Written by admin on Thursday, December 31st, 2009 in Uncategorized.

If you are starting up in new business you will, no doubt, want to have a logo for your company. Every new business will definitely have a reasonable budget for how much they can afford to spend to have their new logo designed, be it a large corporation, a one man enterprise or a midsized company.

The most expensive option would be to approach a traditional graphic design agency, which are often located in plush city offices. This would be your best option to choose if you have a budget of thousands. You will be able to meet them in person to discuss your requirements in detail and have the logo design ideas presented to you. Here the disadvantages are the cost and the length of time from requirements gathering to the delivery of your logo.

Nowadays the internet has brought affordable graphic design, and especially logo design, within everyone’s budget and it becomes affordable. Currently, it is possible that you can get your logo designed by a graphic designer who is located hundreds, even thousands of miles away, communicating requirements and delivering the design via emails within short period of time. The number of companies and individual freelance designers on the internet are growing every day, providing more and more competition, and ultimately it brings down the cost.

It is suggested that you do some online search for “custom logo design” to find out those companies who are offering this service, and compare the various design packages that they offer. It is very important to look through their portfolio of logos to see if you like their style and range of ideas as it will boost your confidence and will help you to decide if you would be happy to let them work on designing your logo.

In the next step you should look at the prices and determine which are within your budget; prices can vary quite a bit. It might happen that your search includes websites from various countries, which explains that why few prices are ridiculously low.

You should check and confirm the limit to the number of revisions they will allow to a logo design. Definitely, unlimited revisions are better than just a few ones, because this will ensure that you get a logo you’re happy with at the end of the design process.

Lastly, in advance confirm that they offers a 100% money back guarantee, in case if you feel that the designer have not fully understood your requirements and the final logo is not developed as hoped.

10 Website Design Mistakes

Written by admin on Thursday, December 31st, 2009 in Uncategorized.

Website SuperheroDoes your website send people fleeing as soon as they get to your home page or does it hook them in and keep them captivated? Do you offend your visitors with the following annoyances?

1. Unnavigable sites.

Do not expect visitors to jump through “link hoops” to get to your information. They won’t. Make your product, price, or service, clear, precise, and easy to find. Design your content so that even elementary school children can understand your site.

2. Excessive pop-ups. In this day and age, pop-ups are inevitable.

But if visitors have to close multiple pop-ups to get to your site, they may leave and never come back. The same applies for “fly-in” or “hover” that bounce across the screen. If you have to use anything, incorporate a pop-up that loads when a visitor leaves your site.

3. Automatic audio.

Always give people the option of listening to any audio or not listening at all.

4. Spinning, flashing, or blinking ads.

Flashing banner ads are the equivalent of a carnival barker trying to lure people into a sideshow. You don’t need to shout to people to have your message heard. Keep you ads limited and your content abundant.

5. A page full of dead links and 404 error messages.

Keep your links up to date and take down the links that are no longer active

6. Dark text on a dark background.

Don’t expect your readers to work to read your content, because they won’t. They will leave and find the information they need elsewhere.

7. Use Flash judiciously.

Unless you have a film site or a product that requires a detailed visual description, resist using Adobe’s Flash for e-commerce. If you are using your site to sell a product, use high-quality, fast-loading photos and creative descriptions of each item. If you must use Flash, make your files as small and fast-loading as possible.

8. Solid blocks of text with no breaks between paragraphs.

That may work in print, but it will not fly on the Web. People don’t read online content the way they read offline — they skim. Imposing blocks of dark text will put off your readers. Make your content clear and concise. Break up your paragraphs, and use plenty of white space.

9. Not Changing the Color of Visited Links.

A good grasp of past navigation helps you understand your current location. Knowing your past and present locations makes it easier to decide where to go next. Links are a key factor in this navigation process and knowing which pages you’ve already visited frees you from revisiting the same pages over again.

10. PDF Files for Online Reading.

People hate coming across a PDF file while browsing because it interrupts their flow. Even simple things like saving documents or printing are difficult because standard browser commands don’t work. If you have a PDF file, get rid of it.

If your site makes any of the mistakes mentioned above, make the necessary changes as soon as you can. In fact, if you haven’t redesigned your site in the last 6 to 12 months, you may be due for a redesign anyway. It will bring you more traffic, keep your visitors happy and increase your sales.
